Yes, throughout lockdown we engaged in some pretty bizarre (yet tasty) culinary challenges, but even though restrictions are lifting and we’re venturing outside more often, these foodie trends are still storming our socials as often as a Kylie Jenner hair change – and the latest cooking craze is just as colourful.
Millions of people around the world are now whipping up cloud bread and sharing their colourful bakes on Instagram and Tik Tok. It’s a super simple dessert bread that only requires four ingredients and, thanks to food colourings of your choice, can be made into a rainbow of different colours.

What you’ll need
- Bowls (how many you’ll need depends on how many colours you’d like)
- Baking tray
- Whisk
- Spoon
- Baking parchment
Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 30g sugar
- 10g cornflour
- Food colouring of choice
- Toppings/ sprinkles of choice (optional)
- Flavouring, such as candy floss (optional)
Method
- Separate 3 egg whites into a bowl and whip them up until frothy
- Gradually add in 30g of sugar, whisk continuously
- Add in cornflour until thick and stiff peaks form
- If you are just using one colour, add in the food colouring now (the more you use, the more intense the colour). Add flavouring if using.
- For multiple colours, separate the mixture into different bowls and add the different food colourings
- Add spoonfuls of each mixture onto parchment-lined baking tray in a round shape, then cook at 150C for 25 mins
