Most secluded fishing spots named – fisherman’s haven with nobody around

Exploring the great British outdoors has never been more popular. The pandemic and the associated travel restrictions made many Britons choose the UK for their summer holidays.

With the trend set to continue on for the end of the year and beyond, the country will continue to be one of the favourite destinations of holidaying Britons.

This autumn, Britons looking to go away on a fishing trip may be wondering where to go.

While many places have seen an increase in visitors, it was still possible to find a secluded fishing spot in England, a new study found.

Matt Holland, MD at Hollands Country Clothing said: “Angling is one of the great British pastimes, one which has been given an extra boost by the pandemic.”

He continued: “And after the year or two we’ve all had, some of us just want to find a secluded space along the shore of a quiet river and spend a blissful afternoon with nothing but the fish and our thoughts.”

Some of the most popular fishing spots, such as Llangorse Lake in Wales, Linear Fisheries in Oxford or Gloucestershire’s Horseshoe Fishing may have hundreds of visitors.

Lake Windermere had hundreds of thousands of social media hashtags.

For a quiet fishing trip, these well-known spots were far from ideal.

DON’T MISS

Little-known spots, however, were still possible to find.

The top spot in England, according to the study by Hollands Country Clothing, was Ladybower Fishery in the Peak District.

Fishing Britons can catch rainbow, blue, and brown trout, with some growing in excess of 20Ibs.

In second place was Stanwick Lake Fisheries in Wellingborough.

The site has fully-fenced, secure lakes and is the one of the best places for private fishing.

In third place was Lathom Fisheries in Lancashire.

The four lakes are stocked with with carp, roach, rudd, green trench and others.

Britons who wish to fish here will need a ticket, which they can get from a café.

Matt Holland, MD at Hollands Country Clothing, reminded Britons: “Do remember however if you are new to fishing, you’ll need to do a bit of research into licences and permits. Check out the government’s fishing page for more information.”
