Comparing bookings for early May Bank Holiday travel in Europe, Airbnb has found that Krakow in Poland is the most popular destination this year.
The eastern European city has seen a 160 per cent increase in bookings compared to the same time last year.
Turin in Italy was the next most popular, seeing 100 per cent increase in bookings .
Joining it on the list is Palermo in Italy, which has seen 69 per cent increase in bookings.
Also on the list were three Spanish destinations – Malaga (83 per cent), Valencia (58 per cent) and Seville (57 per cent).
But despite their popularity, there are still gorgeous properties available to rent for the weekend ahead.
So for those looking for a spontaneous weekend away, here are the best places to stay:
Krakow, Poland
Krakow has seen the biggest surge in bookings on Airbnb in Europe, but this lovely property is still available from May 5.
It’s perfect for families as it sleeps up to four people – there’s a sofa bed in the lounge and a separate bedroom on a mezzanine.
The apartment is available from £46 per night, working out to just £11.50 per person.
Turin, Italy
This spacious property might look luxurious but it’s available from a bargain rate of just £54 per night.
As it can sleep up to four people, it works out at just £13.50 per person.
It’s well positioned for exploring the city as well – it’s near Valentino Park and to explore other areas of Turin, it’s also within walking distance to the Metro.
Malaga, Spain
For an unusual stay in Malaga, try this Mongolian-style yurt.
It’s located in the Andalusian countryside, in the middle of the Los Montes de Malaga national park, giving you a chance to get away from it all.
The yurt sleeps two guests and starts from £47 per night, working out to £23.50 per person.
Palermo, Italy
This property is located in the heart of Palermo, inside a noble palace.
It’s a self-contained room with bathroom, and you will have access to the communal kitchen and lounge.
The room starts from £38 per night for two people, working out to be £19 per person.
Valencia, Spain
