Mortal Kombat 11 teases ‘a lot of surprises’ but does that mean second Kombat Pack?

Mortal Kombat 11’s director Ed Boon has confirmed that there’s still more to come for the game, most likely more fighters.

Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat pack, which added an additional six characters to the game’s roster, is almost complete, with Spawn set to release this month.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that’ll be the end of new content for NetherRealm’s gory fighting title though, as director and co-creator Ed Boon has confirmed that more is to come.

During
the Final Kombat 2020 tournament, Boon took to the stage following the debut of
a new trailer of the upcoming animated film, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s
Revenge, where he stated that we could expect to see more for the game
throughout the year.

‘Thank
you everybody for supporting Mortal Kombat. We love to do these reveals at
these events as a thank you for all of this support for all of these years.
There is a lot more to come with Mortal Kombat as well, this isn’t the end of
the whole support for this game. We’ve got a lot of surprises in store.’

Host Joshua Gray, as transcribed by MP1st, also teased fans by telling everyone that they should be paying attention to all of the associated social media accounts for any news.

‘Thank
you to everyone that tuned in, for supporting the players, for all the
tournament, continue to support your local and online events. And for more
further information in regards to news down the line, THAT’S All I CAN SAY,
make sure to follow all the social accounts.’

While
we obviously have no official word on what kind of support the game will
receive, a popular assumption is that a second Kombat Pack of new characters
will be announced.

Not only did the previous entry, Mortal Kombat X, receive two Kombat Packs, but a supposed leak from before even the announcement of Mortal Kombat 11’s first set of DLC suggested a number of characters that would be added down the line.

This
leak accurately named the entirety of the current Kombat Pack, so it’s quite
likely that the remaining three characters will soon be revealed. Those three
are series regulars Fujin and Sheeva (the latter of which appeared in Mortal
Kombat 11’s story mode) and Evil Dead’s Ash Williams.

Whether
the next DLC pack will only include these three or there are even more
characters that even the leakers weren’t able to find remains to be seen.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
