Mortal Kombat 11 Fatalities are optional flashy finishers that have been a mainstay of the series since its conception.
By inputting a series of button commands once the battle is over, it’s possible to tear your opponent limb-by-limb, or what’s been the case in recent games, deliver some more creative dispatches, such as Cassie Cage’s selfies and dabs.
Despite their optional nature, they’re surprisingly tricky to pull off, so learning the basics of inputting Fatalities – and learning the button inputs for your favourite character – means you won’t be embarrassed next time you win a fight.
As well as a full list of Mortal Kombat 11 Fatalities, we have the following explainers:
What is a Fatality and how do Mortal Kombat 11 Fatalities work?
Mortal Kombat fatalities are devastating finishing moves that can be performed by the winner of a game. Successfully inputting the correct input will result in a flashy finisher and add that bit of extra flare on top of a convincing victory.
Each and every fighter has two unique fatalities attached to a position on the screen and a series of differing inputs.
The first fatality is unlocked for every character of the cast and you can already find the inputs within the command menu. The second is only visible in The Krypt, but can be performed if you know the right Fatality inputs.
How to perform Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11
Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 rely on specific button inputs, which are as follows:
Input | Xbox One | PlayStation 4 | Switch | Kompetitive |
---|---|---|---|---|
Front Punch | X | Square | Y | 1 |
Back Punch | Y | Triangle | X | 2 |
Front Kick | A | Cross | B | 3 |
Back Kick | B | Circle | A | 4 |
Even if you know which buttons do which, Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 can take a bit of practice. One tip, if you are struggling with wiggling out of the correct range when inputting the button sequence, is to hold block while you perform the inputs to keep your character in the right place.
As well as button inputs, there are four specific areas that you will need to position yourself within – Anywhere, Close, Far, and Mid – that require you to measure your distance away from the opponent.
- Close: You should be touching toes with your opponent, ideally, but it is possible to take one to two full steps back based on your character’s size.
- Mid: This can be measured by standing in front of your opponent and taking one full jump backwards and then an extra step.
- Far: This spacing can be found by taking two jumps back and an additional step for safety’s sake.
- Anywhere: Pick a spot my dudes.

Mortal Kombat’s Qualities and how to perform Mercies explained
In Mortal Kombat 11, there are also two secret fatalities that can be accessed under certain conditions; Quitalites and Mercies.
The first of which, a Quitality, is only available online and is the result of the opposing player quitting during the match. Should a player abruptly exit during the ass whooping you are handing out, you will be rewarded with a special animation and the Quitality banner on screen.
The second special fatality is called a Mercy. Marcies are the extra salt in the wounds of a loser.
To perform a Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11, at the end of a battle where you would enter a Fatality, you need to stand at the mid distance and hold the stance switch button, duck three times, and then release the stance switch button.
Doing so will grant your opponent a second lease on life and provide them with a tiny bit of health to keep going. It’s considered bad etiquette to perform a mercy, in fact it’s banned in the Mortal Kombat online circuit, but it’s a good laugh if you can catch a friend off guard during a fight!
