Morrisons and Tesco SELL OUT of popular chocolate eggs three days before Easter

MORRISONS and Tesco have run out of popular Easter eggs the day before the start of the long bank holiday weekend.

Both supermarkets appear to have sold out of some Cadbury, Lindt, Thornton’s and Nestle chocolate eggs online.

Morrisons has run out of all of the eggs in its two for £10 deal

Morrisons was running a two for £2 deal on medium sized Easter eggs where shoppers can save £1 when they double up.

But all of the treats featured in the offer have run out.

These include a 65g Peppa Pig Easter egg, a 124g Aero treat, and a 122g Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo snack which would normally all cost £1.50 each.

Many of the larger eggs in its three for £10 deal have also sold out, such as a 258g Cadbury Crunchie Giant Easter egg and a Thornton’s Classic Collection Egg which both cost £4.

Tesco has also run out of stock in its Easter ranges

Tesco has also run out of some ranges of its seasonal chocolates too as shoppers snap up their favourite eggs ahead of Easter Sunday.

Customers who shop online won’t be able to buy small Malteser or Smarties Easter eggs from Tesco, or medium size Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo or Smarties ones either.

Tesco has also restricted orders so customers are unable to order Easter eggs for deliveries that arrive after tomorrow.

But shoppers shouldn’t panic because some eggs are still available to buy at both retailers.

These include the 123g Cadbury Dairy Milk And Mini Oreo Medium Easter Egg for £1.50 from Tesco and the Thorntons Milk Chocolate Bunny Egg for £4 from Morrisons.

Supplies at Sainsbury’s and Asda also appear to still be going strong.

But angry last minute shoppers have tweeted their frustration at not being able to buy the seasonal gifts.

Tinksey wrote: “@Tesco keep seeing the advert for 3 large Easter eggs for £10 but when I go online to shop they’re all sold out ☹️ Grrrrrrr #dissapointed.”

Another wrote: “Where have all the chocolate orange Easter eggs gone? You’ve run out in every store I’ve tried and on Tesco.com.”

But a cheeky member of the Sainsbury’s social media team called Brandon has been offering to help out customers who are left without their treats.

He has been replying to disappointed tweeters saying: “A Sainsbury’s #EasterBunny would like to try and help! Can you pop over a DM and we’ll hop to it? Brandon.”

We’re not sure if Sainsbury’s is offering shoppers free eggs or reserving ones in stores but we’ve asked them to clear things up and we’ll let you know when we hear back.

A Tesco spokesperson has told The Sun: “Customers don’t need to worry, we’ve got plenty of eggs left, both online and in store, to last them through Easter.”

The Sun has asked Morrisons for comment.

Our blind Easter egg taste test revealed that a £2 Easter egg from Lidl is one of the best.

But Lindt’s £8 white chocolate Easter egg scooped the top spot in Good Housekeeping’s blind taste test last month.

You can also now buy Ferrero Rocher mini eggs in cocoa and hazelnut flavours and they sound delicious.
