This is the moment an injured swan held up a London Overground train during rush hour.

Frustrated commuters had to swan around for 90 minutes as they waited for the bird to move.

The stubborn trespasser sat down in the middle of the tracks at South Acton station in west London, forcing TfL to partially suspend the line on Monday night.

Adam Bolf, 35, was one of the commuters who fell fowl of the feathered protest.

He said the swan repeatedly defied shoos from TfL engineers who tried their best to move it away with a plastic barrier.

Mr Bolf posted a picture of the swan ‘swanning around like it owned the place’ on Facebook and soon got a flurry of punny jokes.

‘Should beak more careful where it wanders,’ one wrote. Another joked: ‘Swan way mate.’

Concerned wildlife lovers feared the bird may have left one of the swan sanctuaries around south and west London.

‘Possibly grounded and not far from there is the swan sanctuary so really it needed a professional to pick it up and assess it,’ one birdwatcher wrote.

Rory O’Neil, TfL’s General Manager for London Overground, confirmed the swan was eventually rescued.

Pictures show the swan being rescued and taken away in a car by the London Wildlife Protection.

‘The swan was later treated and thankfully is now recovering,’ Mr O’Neil added.
