Ahmed Elmohamady is a huge fan of Aston Villa team-mate Jack Grealish and rates him as the best player he’s ever played with, despite playing alongside Mohamed Salah for Egypt.
The full-back provided an assist for Villa and Egypt team-mate Trezeguet in a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, a game where Grealish struggled to get on the ball.
Just days earlier he had played a starring role against Manchester United, strengthening his claim for the England squad and attracting more links to the Premier League’s elite in the process after curling in the opener in a 2-2 draw.
Few are in doubt about Grealish’s qualities but Elmohamady has stepped things up a notch and claimed he is the best player he has ever lined up alongside, even though he regularly teams up with Liverpool goal machine and Champions League winner Mohamed Salah.
‘I’ve played with some great players,’ he told TalkSport. ‘I play with Mo Salah in the national team, but for me Jack is the best player I have ever played with.
‘For me, yeah. Jack is an incredible player, we see him every day in training doing some great stuff.
‘He’s not better than Mo, they’re both different players. I love Mo, he’s one of the best five players in the world, but for me Jack can make the difference at any time.’
England manager has overlooked Grealish for international duty to date – a decision Elmohamady struggles to understand.
‘Of course he should be in the England squad, 100% he should be in,’ he added.
‘He can help England at the Euros in the summer and he can also help us to finish as high as we can in the Premier League as well.
‘We have some great players in the team like, Jack, John McGinn and Tyrone Mings as well, some great players.
‘To have these players in the team it’s going to help us finish as high as we can in the league.’
