Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is suffered from ‘mild’ coronavirus symptoms, according to Egypt’s national team doctor.

Following a test earlier this week, Salah produced a positive Covid-19 result and as a result will be unavailable for Egypt’s matches during the international break.

But Salah, who is self-isolating for seven days following his result, will also miss Liverpool’s clash against Leicester City in the Premier League next Sunday.

Salah’s return for Liverpool could be against Atalanta in the Champions League on November 25.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s team doctor, Mohamed Abou Elela, says Salah must remain in his home nation until he produces a negative Covid-19 test.

‘He’s a mild case – he doesn’t have severe symptoms,’ Abou Elela told Associated Press.

‘He has to self-isolate in Egypt until his test returns negative and then, of course, he can travel back.’

Asked if Salah could have been infected after he mixed with people at his brother’s wedding last week, Abou Elela replied: ‘I cannot deny.

‘No one knows because unfortunately, we still don’t know everything about the virus. My answer is maybe yes, maybe no.’
