Model Felicity Hayward cancelled on the British Fashion Awards because she claims plus-sized models are an ‘afterthought’ to fashion brands.

The plus-sized model hit out at the company dressing her as they only gave her one option to wear, whereas smaller women ‘got pick of the store’.

Taking to Twitter to rant, Felicity said: ‘I cancelled on going to the British Fashion Awards tonight because the brand taking me offered me one dress option, everyone else who was a smaller size, got pick of the store.

‘I might look like I’m being petty, but I’m not going to be made to feel grateful for the opportunity… when I am always an afterthought with these brands.

‘Plus-size women are ALWAYS an after thought in this industry.’

Felicity hadn’t named the brand that was meant to take her but she made sure to shout out the companies that do cater to plus-sized women.

‘Shout out to @ASOS and @riverisland for making me feel like a million dollars the last two years at the BFA’s, that’s who I will continue to support and will continue to spend my coin at,’ she posted.

Although many online retailers cater to curvy women, a lot of luxury brands still only have selective sizes.

‘That’s what it feels like shopping when you’re plus sized isn’t it?’ a fan asked. ‘One dress option and like it or lump it. Bravo for making a stand – I really hope it makes a difference. I know it’s hard to turn down these opportunities. Xx’

Felicity said: ‘Yup. It’s hard enough being plus-size and being seen as equal in this industry as it is, but I just can’t keep supporting brands who quite frankly don’t care.’

Meanwhile, Felicity is solving high-street problems one day at a time by launching a new range of lingerie with Playful Promises.

The body positivity activist has created a range of designs in over 70 bra sizes.

Bras go from A to K, while girdles, bodies, suspender belts and the disco jumpsuit are available in sizes 8 to 26.
