Mist has spoken out after being shot in Portugal, saying ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’.

The 27-year-old rapper was shot in the leg during a suspected robbery at his rented villa in the Algarve on Tuesday night.

Aside from his friend Beacs saying the star was ‘fine and well’, there had been no update on Mist’s condition – however, the Birmingham star has now assured fans that he is recovering.

The rapper, real name Rhys Sylvester, wrote on Instagram: ‘Recieved the maddest love in the last 2 days! Thank you everyone for having me in your prayers and sending your messages. Moments like this make you realise what’s important!

‘Im here, recovering well, ready to make more hits! Your karlas back in full action, nothin can hold me down! sticks and stones might break your bones but this karlas back and active! #whatdosentkillyoumakesyoustronger [sic].’

Dappy left a muscle emoji, while Maya Jama left a heart and a prayer sign and Stefflon Don commented: ‘Just like that.’

Mist also shared a video on his Instagram story, showing him limping with a bandage around his left calf.

A statement from Portuguese police confirmed they were investigating the alleged robbery, which happened before 10pm on Tuesday night.

They said: ‘The Policia Judiciaria is investigating the possible commission of a crime of robbery around 11pm yesterday/on Tuesday (AUGUST 27) at a private property in the parish of Almancil.

‘The crime in question, which has yet to be clarified, was perpetrated by two English-speaking individuals with firearms. During the incident a shot was fired which hit one of the occupants of the property, a British man, in a lower limb.

‘He was taken to a hospital A&E and discharged after treatment for a superficial gunshot wound.

‘The modus operandi of the suspects does not fit the typical sort of robbery, with nothing having been moved or taken from inside the property apartment from the victim’s personal belongings. Investigations are continuing.’

Sylvester began a career in music in 2015 after a stint in prison for dangerous driving, and his 2018 album Diamond In The Dirt hit number five in the UK Albums Chart.

On this record, he worked with Jessie Ware, MoStack, Nines and Not3s, while he released his Fredo collaboration So High this year.

Mist is also known for the tracks Sickmade, Game Changer and Karla’s Back.
