Minnie Driver revealed that she previously ran into her former boyfriend and castmate, Matt Damon.

The 51-year-old actress appeared on Wednesday’s episode of the Keep It! podcast and spoke about various topics during the sit-down with the show’s hosts, including her run-in with the 50-year-old performer.

The former pair dated around the time of Good Will Hunting’s release, and the actor notably announced that he was single during a 1998 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ended their relationship.

During the conversation, Driver recalled that the reunion was unexpected and that they had not spoken for over two decades before then.

‘I did see Matt Damon on the beach and I had not had a conversation with him, seriously, since we made the film,’ she pointed out.

The Academy Award-nominated actress expressed that she and the actor had both grown older ever since they dated and said that she was happy to have a mature conversation with her former flame.

‘That was last summer and it was actually very nice to see him, and his kids, and his wife and it all felt quite middle-aged actually, which was reassuring,’ she stated.

The actress also pointed out that, in looking back, she thought that the media had honed in on her and Damon, which added to the stress that was put on their connection.

She added, ‘I feel like so much of the folly of youth went on with our initial relationship, like it was amazing and tabloid-y.’

Although she did not go into specifics, Driver expressed that she and Damon were completely cordial during their meeting and did not speak about their past relationship.

‘So that was nice to just have sort of a middle-aged conversation about the weather and stuff,’ she said.

The former couple was originally linked in the late 1990s and appeared together in Good Will Hunting, which was released in 1997.

The actor portrayed the feature’s titular character, and Driver played his love interest, Skylar, in the much-celebrated film.

The pair began being seen in each other’s company at various events and made numerous public appearances in support of the feature.

However, Damon was featured on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1998 and publicly declared that he was not dating anyone at the time, which blindsided the actress.

The actor went on to date several individuals before becoming involved with his current wife, Luciana Bozan, whom he married in 2005.

The pair share three daughters and the Stillwater star acts as a stepfather to his wife’s daughter from a previous relationship.

Driver went on to become romantically connected to writer Timothy Lea, and the former pair welcomed a son named Henry in 2008.

The actress was also in a relationship with Josh Brolin, to whom she was briefly engaged in 2001.

The performer is currently engaged to documentarian Addison O’Dea, to whom she has been connected ever since 2019.
