Mindhunter season two: Holden and Tench have a ‘price to pay’ over Charles Manson investigation

Mindhunter season two drops on Netflix on Friday 16 August but the stars of the thriller have revealed that our favourite FBI detectives will have a ‘price to pay’ as they continue to interview and profile serial killers.

The psychological crime series stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany as FBI agents investigating and interviewing renowned serial killers from the 1970s, and season two will see Groff and McCallany’s Holden Ford and Bill Tench travel to Atlanta to solve the infamous child murders as well as meeting Charles Manson.

But while this is all going on Bill is trying his hardest to still be a good husband and father, which is made even more difficult when a murder takes place in his neighbourhood.

‘He’s a flawed guy in certain ways but his intentions are honorable — and he also wants to be a good detective,’ McCallany said.

‘His professional integrity is very important to him. And it’s the tension that’s created from trying to be in two places at one time and trying to divide his attention and do both sides of his life equal justice that are the source of a lot of conflict in season two.’

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actor added: ‘Inevitably, they end up taking their work home with them because they become obsessed with trying to find these guys before they can kill again.

‘They’re constantly thinking about it, constantly going over it and over it and over it in their minds, and studying crime scene photos, and trying to put themselves into the minds of the killers, and they pay a price for that.’

Serial killer Edmund Kemper from the first season, played by Cameron Britton, will also return, while the pair will also interview Charles Manson (played by Damon Herriman) and the Son of Sam.

A synopsis for the second season reads: ‘FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench probe further into the psyches of those who have done the unthinkable.

‘With help from psychologist Wendy Carr, they apply their groundbreaking behavorial analysis to hunting notorious serial killers.’

MINDHUNTER season two releases on Netflix 16 August.
