Millwall and Nottingham Forest shared the points after an action-filled conclusion to their Championship meeting at The Den.
Lewis Grabban looked to have won it for Forest after he came off the bench to score twice and cancel out a first-half header from Millwall’s Shaun Williams.
Grabban netted first within 50 seconds of his introduction with a header a yard out before slotting in Sammy Ameobi’s ball across the six-yard area with two minutes to play.
But Williams was involved again for the hosts as his shot from outside the box in stoppage-time was spilled by Forest keeper Brice Samba and allowed Aiden O’Brien to slot in the rebound.
Milwall extended their unbeaten run to five games under Gary Rowett, but Forest missed the chance to go level on points with third-placed Fulham.
Rowett has still only tasted defeat once since taking charge in October and his side were by far the more superior in the first 45 minutes.
Jed Wallace proved instrumental in creating chances and it was his outswinging corner that Williams nodded down inside the six-yard box for his second goal in as many games.
Forest failed to register a shot on target until early in the second half, but manager Sabri Lamouchi’s decision to stick Grabban on after an hour had an immediate effect.
He scored with his first touch at the end of a Tiago Silva free-kick after Joe Worrall nodded back across goal and then combined with Ameobi for what appeared to be the winner.
But there was still time for Millwall to rescue a third draw in a row when O’Brien pounced.
Earlier, Jake Cooper had missed a glorious chance at 1-1 when he headed unmarked straight at Samba from close range, while the Lions may also have been awarded a penalty shortly after when Ameobi appeared to trip Tom Bradshaw.
Millwall manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio London:
“It was some game. I think first half we were brilliant.
“The fact Forest came and changed their shape and left their two highest-scoring players out – Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban – I felt was testament to everything we’ve been doing at The Den.
“We deserved to be more than a goal up and when you get into the final third in such good positions so many times you have to capitalise.
“They’ve got good players and when you don’t capitalise on that good half they’re going to have good periods.
“We’ve ended up pulling one back at the death and showed amazing character.”
Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi told BBC Radio Nottingham:
“I’m happy to win one point, disappointed to lose two points, because we should keep the result two minutes before the end.
“The first half we started in the wrong way, probably because of a different system.
“You can play in a different system, but the attitude must be the same, without the ball you need to win the duels and with the ball you need to make good control and good passes, it’s simple things.
“The second half was totally different and we came back in the game. To be fair, the draw was logical in the end.”
