Miley Cyrus sings about ‘letting go’ in new track Slide Away after splitting from Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus has released a new song hinting at the breakdown of a relationship after she and husband Liam Hemsworth called it quits.

The lyrics of the song, called Slide Away, encourages a person to “move on” and “let it go”.

The popstar, 26, opens the song with the verse: “Once upon a time it was paradise, once upon a time I was paralysed, I think I’m gonna miss these harbour lights, but it’s time to let it go.”

Later on she sings: “Move on, we’re not 17, I’m not who I used to be, you say that everything changed, you’re right, we’re grown now.”

Cyrus has released the song just days after she and Hemsworth, 29, confirmed they had split after less than a year of marriage.

The pair met during the filming of romantic drama film The Last Song ten years ago when Cyrus was 16 and Hemsworth was 19. They married last December after nearly a decade of on-again-off-again dating.

Representatives for Cyrus then confirmed the end of their marriage, and hours later, she posted a photograph of her stood in front of a mountain range along with a cryptic post about evolution.

She wrote: Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win.

Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable.

The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.

Cyrus was pictured “kissing” Kaitlynn Carter while on holiday in Lake Como shortly after the announcement.

Hemsworth, who is staying with brother Chris in Australia, later denied reports he had spoken to reporters about the split in a separate post, and wished Cyrus “health and happiness”.
