Miley Cyrus apologizes to feminist artist after being accused of copying their pro-choice artwork

Miley Cyrus is trying to make amends after being accused of plagiarizing artwork from a feminist baker.

The Bangerz songstress, 26, reached out to apologize to artist Becca Rea-Holloway AKA @TheSweetFeminist, for not crediting her as the inspiration for a pro-choice themed cake bearing the message: ‘Abortion is healthcare.’

Admitting she inadvertently copying a pro-choice cake design seen in Rea-Holloway’s Instagram, the former Disney talent posted an Instagram comment which said: ‘We saw the image online and didn’t realize it was yours. We will absolutely tag you for your work.’

Miley originally posted the cake art to promote a charitable collaboration with nonprofit Planned Parenthood, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and her own Happy Hippie Foundation.

The image in question shows the Malibu songstress slumping down to lick a rainbow sprinkle covered cake emblazoned with the pro-reproductive rights message ‘Abortion is healthcare’ written upon it in block letters.

The only problem:  Rea-Holloway originally posted her own identical cake design over one year ago.

Questioning Miley’s unauthorized recreation The Sweet Feminist wrote: ‘@mileycyrus just announced a collaboration with @marcjacobs @plannedparenthood @happyhippiefdn using this image.

‘It is a direct theft of my own original art work from May 2018, with no credit. It’s literally my exact handwriting, message, and concept. Swipe for comparison! Cake art is for everyone, but this is inexcusable.’

After The Sweet Feminist called Miley out for her stealing her art via her Instagram, Miley came back with a contrite response.

‘Hi, we saw the image online and didn’t realize it was yours. We will absolutely tag you for your work. This image is not on the Marc Jacobs x Planned Parenthood hoodie we made to raise money and awareness for Planned Parenthood which I know is also close to your heart.

‘It is just on the post and not on the merchandise but we will absolutely tag you and give you the credit for your art.’

Still, the star, who boasts over 93million followers, failed to offer Rea-Holloway any monetary compensation for using her work.

Miley’s camp continued, adamant about The Sweet Feminist correct/updating her original call-out post as they wrote: ‘If you could please correct your post, as we’re going to make sure you have all the credit you deserve… thanks for sharing your art and inspiring us.’

DailyMail.com reached out to both Cyrus and Rea-Holloway for comment and has yet to hear back.

Miley is teaming up with Planned Parenthood, Marc Jacobs and her own Happy Hippie Foundation to raise money for the reproductive health nonprofit.

The campaign comes after eight states have passed legislation which de facto outlaws abortion in their state, attempting to pave the way for a Supreme Court challenge against precedent-setting Roe V. Wade.

Meanwhile, Miley has been busy promoting new music with a series of sexually charged images.
