Forget cocktails with the girls, Netflix binges and eating our body weight in roast potatoes, this past weekend was spent in a permanent state of shock over the news that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are separating.
The Hollywood IT couple announced their divorce just seven months after they got married, and the world is officially in mourning. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a rep for the Hollywood IT couple said. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”
People are suggesting the pair’s disagreement over baby plans and Miley’s behaviour in public also had a part to play. The pop star regularly spoke out about her attraction to women, and during the couple’s last public appearance at the Met Gala, Miley was photographed pulling silly faces and pretending to lick her husband’s face whilst he disapprovingly looked on.
On Sunday, the pop-star reflected on the split in a sentimental Instagram post. “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win. Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable” she wrote alongside an image of her posing in the Dolomites. “I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own.”
Meanwhile, Liam broke his silence when he stepped out for frozen yogurt in Byron Bay, Australia. ‘You don’t know what it’s like,” he told a Daily Mail Australia reporter. “I don’t want to talk about it mate.”
The actor and singer first met on the set of The Last Song in 2009 and got engaged three years later. After splitting up, the pair reunited in 2016 and got hitched last December in a low key ceremony at their home in Franklin, Tennessee.
Miley is currently on holiday in Italy and with her sister Brandi, and Brody Jenner’s ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter. Over the weekend, the newly-single girls were seen kissing and cuddling on a sunlounger in Lake Como, sending the internet wild.
