Mikel Arteta identifies Unai Emery mistake which disrupted stability at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has seemingly identified a mistake Unai Emery made at Arsenal, which disrupted the club’s stability.

Emery was sacked after winning just one match in September and replaced by Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, Arteta.

The Spaniard is under pressure to turn things around in north London, and must do so without big money to spend in the January transfer window.

Arsenal have been performing better since Arteta took the reins, and ran out convincing 2-0 winners over Manchester United last time out.

Individual performances have improved at the Emirates, and the team appears to be playing as a unit once more.

Arteta recently spoke to the press about stability at the club, and explained how it stems from the captain.

Emery had a pool of captains when he was in charge, and stripped Granit Xhaka of the armband after a spat with the fans.

Arteta intends to ensure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang retains the title during his tenure in a bid to restore some structure.

Arteta said: “The more stability we can generate with our captain and the players we have in the squad, I think the more clarity we will have to transmit to the fans what we are trying to do.

“There are many factors, some we cannot control, but at the moment everything is OK and not the time for me to change things in place because I haven’t seen real things to make the decisions.

“The moment they pick the leaders is when someone talks if they listen or they are looking at the roof. That is when you see.”
