Mike Thalassitis’ inquest is reportedly set to take place at the end of May just days before Love Island 2019 is scheduled to launch.

The 26-year-old died on 16 March by suicide after taking his own life in a North London park.

According to The Mirror, the inquest into his untimely death is expected to open at the HM Coroner’s Court for North London in Barnet on 29 May.

It’s coincidental timing as the fifth series of ITV2’s hit dating series, Love Island, is set to debut on 3 June.

Mike famously appeared in the show’s third series back in 2017 when he shot to fame after being dubbed ‘Muggy Mike’ for his various romances.

The reality TV star’s funeral took place earlier in April which several of his Love Island co-stars, including Montana Brown, attended.

It was claimed that Mike’s depression was caused by financial struggles but his aunt, Francesca Goldsmid, denied this.

In a post on a Just Giving page set up for mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably in Mike’s honour, Francesca said he had ‘strong pipeline of promising new business ventures and financial stability enabling him more luxuries than most’.

Over the weekend, Mike’s Love Island co-star Kem Cetinay said he missed the opportunity to have a ‘deep’ conversation with the late TV star during their time in the Mallorca villa.

Sharing his regrets with the Mail On Sunday’s You magazine, Kem said: ‘I did realise Mike wasn’t the talking kind. He was quite closed off. I thought of him as confident, which meant I fell into the same trap as most people.

‘What I know is you cover up your issues deep-down by pretending to be cocky and arrogant – I’ve done the same thing so many times.’

Mike’s death sparked a huge debate about aftercare provided for contestants on reality shows and ITV announced they would be changing their procedure.

Before his death, Mike was working towards opening his new breakfast bar, The Skillet, in Essex.

His close friend and Love Island co-star Montana was seen helping Mike’s business partner Scott Neils with the grand opening.

Proceeds from the sales of drinks from the launch are going towards mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
