Mike Thalassitis funeral: Caroline Flack leads Love Island stars at ceremony

Mike Thalassitis’ Love Island co-star Montana Brown, 23, was seen struggling to hold back tears when she arrived at the funeral. Host Caroline Flack, 39, was seen outside the church with a male companion, shielding her eyes behind a pair of dark sunglasses. Love Island stars Zara McDermott, Ellie Brown, 21, Alexandra Cane, 27, and Samira Mighty, 22, were pictured arriving to pay their respects at the church in Southgate today. Camilla Thurlow, 29, and her boyfriend Jamie Jewitt, 28, arrived hand-in-hand, with Jonny Mitchell, 28, close behind them. TOWIE’s Mario Falcone, 31, Liam Gatsby, and  Rebekah Vardy, 37, were also in attendance. Model Ellie O’Donnell, 22, who was a close friend of Mike’s, looked sombre in all black as she arrived at the ceremony. The hearse arrived bearing a silver coffin surrounded by floral displays, one of which spelled the word “brother”.

Earlier today, Montana told her 1.3 million Instagram followers she would be speaking at the service.

Sharing a screenshot of a FaceTime video call between them, she said: “Miss the FaceTimes. Never felt so empty and anxious.

“Hope you’re above listening to my speech today,” she added. “I know you’re pointing your finger at my right now and saying ‘You cow’ for uploading this.”

On her story, the reality star also wrote: “Wished today would never come.”

Mike Thalassitis died last month at the age of 26. The Love Island star was found hanged in a park in Edmonton, North London.

The star, who previously had success as a footballer earlier in his career, shot to fame when he appeared on ITV2 reality dating show Love Island in 2017.

He subsequently went on to star in Celebs Go Dating last year.

Last month, the Metropolitan Police released a statement, which did not name Mike, saying: “Police were called to a park near Latymer Way, N9 at 0928hrs on Saturday, March 16 to reports of man found hanged.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 20s, deceased,” the statement continued.

“At this early stage, the death is not being traded as suspicious.”

They said a file would be prepared for the coroner.

Following the news of Mike’s death, Love Island stars took to social media to pay tribute, with presenter Caroline Flack, 39, saying: “Mike… you were a total gentleman… I won’t forget that. It’s so sad… You will be missed.”

Love Island 2017 winner Amber Davies, 22, wrote: “I am in utter shock. @MikeThalassitis you were one of the most genuine guy! I just can’t believe this! You’ll be missed so much you have no idea.(sic)

Mike’s former co-star Alex Bowen, 26, penned: “I can’t get mu head round this RIP brother.

Meanwhile, ITV released a statement saying: “Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island are shocked and saddened by this terrible news.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mike’s family and friends at this very sad time.”

Mike’s TOWIE star ex-girlfriend Megan McKenna, 26, took to Twitter two days after Mike died to speak out for the first time since the tragic news.

“Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this,” she said. “I can’t believe I’m even writing this post.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family. Rest in peace Mike.”
