Mike Bushell: ‘Makes me laugh’ Strictly star's wife giggles as she reveals his dance moves

Mike Bushell, 53, has already admitted his dancing skills have “limitations” but the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 contestant’s moves have now been cheekily mocked by his wife Emily Bushell. The BBC Breakfast sports presenter can be seen showing off his wedding dance routine in a tweet posted by his other half on Twitter last week. Emily shared the funny clip in view of her 350 followers on the micro-blogging site alongside the caption: “He makes me laugh so much!” Addressing his forthcoming stint on Strictly, she added: “Whoever gets this one is going to smile a lot these next few months.”

In the video, Mike put on an energetic display as he danced up a storm to Bruno Mars’ hit song Marry You in a pair of blue swimming trunks on his honeymoon.

Emily can be heard giggling away as she explained her husband’s carefree moves in the background.

She said: “No filter! Mike’s getting into the groove on honeymoon to the song we walked out of the church to.”

Emily then chuckled as she told her other half his dancing skills were “amazing, darling”.

Fans took to the comments section of Emily’s post to share their thoughts about Mike’s moves.

One person gushed: “It’s all the way to the hallowed turf of Blackpool and beyond for Mike.”

Another added: “With moves like that he’s so going to wow the judges xxx.”

“He can do the click-heel-jump move already!! The rest will be a cinch,” a third fan joked.

A fourth asked Emily: “Do you think he has a chance?” to which she replied: “He puts a 1000 per cent in to everything! Who knows?”

Elsewhere, Mike Bushell chatted to Strictly champion Stacey Dooley, 32, on BBC Breakfast about her experience on the show.

The documentary filmmaker tried to ease the journalist’s nerves when he admitted his most recent dance experience was at his wedding, which he described as “more jumping up and down really”.

He added: “I did this piece for Breakfast about a year ago with the Outta Puff Daddys in Brighton, who are a group of older men who get together to dance and it was brilliant but I then realised my limitations.”

Mike then turned to Stacey and said: “But I remember you saying you couldn’t dance and you won it!”

“Yeah but do you know what? This sounds a bit bizarre, but it’s not really about the dancing,” she replied to the BBC favourite.

Stacey then referenced the dance competition’s judging panel, as she added: “I think they love a trier.”

After hearing the star’s words of reassurance, Mike jokingly responded: “I’ll try not to fall over. If I can get one foot in front of the other in time to a piece of music, I’ll be fine.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
