Midsomer Murders fans spot bizarre link between murder victim ‘Anyone else notice?’

Midsomer Murders is a modern-day detective show which sees DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and his colleague DS Jamie Winter (Nick Hendrix) carry out ongoing murder investigations in the seemingly quiet village of Midsomer. Now, a fan has pointed out a bizarre link they’ve noticed in the show – did you spot it?

The drama, which is now on its 21st season, has always been a favourite of ITV viewers who remain hooked on the action.

Each Midsomer Murders episode sees DCI Barnaby and DS Jamie frantically try to get to the bottom of the newest murder in Midsomer.

Although the village seems an unlikely place for brutal killings to take place, each episode sees another person lose their life.

The ITV series returned and viewers continue to question and scrutinise every part of the show, which has been on air since 1997.

He told the paper: “It has been a joy to be involved in such a long-running series with so many good actors and great storylines. It’s the end of an era for me.”

“I suddenly realised that I’m going to be the oldest detective in the business now that David Jason has thrown off the mantle.

“But it was a very difficult decision to make,” he added.

His character’s duties were taken over by his cousin John, played by Neil, who has been on the show ever since.

Neil seemed to confirm the popular drama would be continuing for the foreseeable future as he believed there were still new plots to be explored.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Neil said: “It can be so varied. It can vary tonally. You’ve got a different setting every week.”

“You’ve got a largely different cast every week. You can have a darker episode, a more serious episode. You can change everything about it.”

He added: “You can kind of put anything in there because of the breadth and the style of the show. If there’s a formula at all, it’s a very loose formula.

“So I think it’s got the potential to go on. It can keep re-energising itself,” he concluded.

Midsomer Murders can be streamed on the ITV Hub.
