Microsoft’s flagship Forza franchise is coming to all Windows 10 devices via a new free-to-play spin off title – Forza Street.
“Today, Turn 10 Studios is proud to announce Forza Street, an all-new Forza experience designed to be played anytime, anywhere, and excite anyone who loves cars,” says a statement on Xbox Wire. “Forza Street was designed for racing on the go with streamlined controls that focus on timing of gas, brake, and boost as the keys to victory.
“In Forza Street, new Forza fans and seasoned drivers alike can collect and assemble a legendary lineup of cars to compete in intense, cinematic races. Whether players want to squeeze in a quick one-minute race or get immersed in a story campaign, every race is a chance to earn a performance icon from an ever-growing list of incredible cars, turning your garage into a trophy case.”
The new racer – which is technically a rebranded version of Miami Street – is out now on Windows 10 devices, with plans to roll out onto Android and iOS devices later this year.
In other Microsoft news, it’s thought the company may open preorders for its new disc-less Xbox console, the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition later this week. Rumours of a disc-less Xbox One first surfaced last November, when it was suggested this console would join Microsoft’s line of existing current-gen hardware rather than be a next-gen launch. Even then, it was expected to release as early as spring/Q2 2019, and as it would only be able to play digital games, it was reported it could cost as much as $100 less than the present system.
Now the rumours confirm prior reports that the digital game-only console will arrive on May 7th, complete with three of Microsoft’s biggest games already pre-loaded: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves. We also had our first look at new images of the Xbox One S All Digital console and its packaging.
It’s thought the system will also come with a single wireless controller, a 1TB hard-drive, and reportedly retail for €230 (roughly £200 / $260).
