Mick Jagger "to undergo heart valve surgery" after cancelling Rolling Stones shows

It’s thought that the procedure has high success rates.

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is reportedly set to undergo surgery to replace a damaged valve in his heart.

The legendary rock band postponed the US leg of their latest world tour over the weekend, after doctors told Jagger he could not perform.

As the New York Post‘s Page Six column reports, Jagger is thought to have damaged a valve in his heart and will receive a stent to fix the valve.

It’s believed that the procedure has an exceptionally high success rate and may have been taken by Jagger as a precaution.

The Rolling Stones have postponed their upcoming US tour.

“You can be back at work within weeks,” a source told Page Six.

“But it could be because the health checks are all set into the insurance for the tour, maybe they’re being careful.”

Apologising directly to fans via Twitter, Jagger wrote: “I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets. I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”

Rescheduled dates for the US tour have not yet been announced. Tour promoters AEG Presents/Concerts West urge fans to hold on to their tickets as they will remain valid for the rescheduled shows.
