Mick Jagger pays tribute to Steve Bing following news of film producer’s death

Mick Jagger was seen paying tribute to his ‘kind and generous’ friend Steve Bing, following news that the film producer has died aged 55.

Bing, who was best known for working on movies Kangaroo Jack and The Polar Express, was found dead in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, on Monday (22 June).

His publicist, Michelle Bega, confirmed news of his passing to Sky News and said she was ‘overwhelmed trying to process this unbelievable and sad event’.

Taking to Instagram, Jagger told fans that he will miss the star ‘very much’.

Paying tribute to his friend, the Rolling Stones star said of Bing: ‘It’s so sad to hear of Steve Bing’s passing.

‘He was such a kind and generous friend and supported so many good and just causes.’

‘I will miss him very much, MJ,’ Jagger concluded.

Bing – who had inherited a staggering $600 million (£480 million) fortune from his grandfather in his younger years – had produced Martin Scorsese’s documentary Shine A Light about legendary rock band The Rolling Stones back in 2008.

He is survived by his two children – daughter Kira, who he shares with professional tennis player Lisa Bonder and son Damian, 18, from his previous relationship with Elizabeth Hurley.

Actress Liz told fans she is ‘saddened beyond belief’ to hear of Bing’s death.

‘I am saddened beyond belief that my ex Steve is no longer with us. It is a terrible end,’ she said while paying tribute to her ex on Instagram.

‘Our time together was very happy and I’m posting these pictures because although we went through some tough times, it’s the good, wonderful memories of a sweet, kind man that matter.

‘In the past year we had become close again. We last spoke on our son’s 18th birthday. This is devastating news.’

Liz had dated Bing back in 2001 for around a year before she fell pregnant with son Damian. Bing had denied paternity and demanded a DNA test, which later confirmed he was the father.

Bing’s relationship with Damian was particularly strained and highly publicised over the years.
