Michelle Williams EXCLUSIVE: Newly single star beams while seen out for first time since her split

Her split from husband of less than a year Phil Elverum made news earlier this month.

But Michelle Williams didn’t look like she was tending to a broken heart when seen out in New York on Tuesday.

It looked like the smiling star, 38, was making some home improvements, seen carrying a full shopper from Ikea.

Michelle was was effortlessly stylish, teaming a preppy blue blazer with a cinnamon-colored sweater and off-white trousers.

She kept her should blonde locks out of her face with the help of a navy bandanna. Meanwhile, sunglasses provided a bit of privacy and clogs completed the look.

Then, she dropped off her wares and continued her walk.

As the Golden Globe winner went on, she chatted with someone on the phone, sporting just one earbud. It was unclear who was putting a smile on Michelle’s face.

It didn’t look like the star was stuck on her ill-fated relationship with Phil Elverum.

Though their breakup made news a little less than two weeks ago, the couple reportedly split at the beginning of the year – just months after they wed in secret over the summer.

Back on April 19, a source told People magazine: ‘It was an amicable split and they remain friends.’

Phil, of the indie rock groups The Microphones and Mount Eerie, was previously married to Canadian musician Geneviève Castrée for 13 years before she died from inoperable pancreatic cancer in 2016.

The Blue Valentine actress exchanged vows in a top secret ceremony witnessed by a handful of friends in the Adirondack Mountains, she told Vanity Fair.

Both their daughters were present; she has a 12-year-old daughter Matilda from her relationship with the late Heath Ledger and he has a 3-year-old daughter from his first marriage.

‘I never gave up on love. I always say to Matilda, “Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes,”‘ she said in the article which was released in July.

Michelle is heavily guarded about her privacy and has rarely spoken about her personal life, including her three-year romance with Ledger.

‘Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship,’ she said. ‘But Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something.

‘Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.’

She admitted that it’s difficult discussing Heath more than ten years after he died of cardiac arrest from an accidental overdose.

‘I don’t really want to talk about any of it,’ she said. ‘But there’s that tease, that lure, that’s like, ‘What if this helps somebody? What if somebody who has always journeyed in this way, who has struggled as much as I struggled, and looked as much as I looked, finds something that helps them?’

‘Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison, or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.’
