Michelle Williams awkward on red carpet when asked about Beyonce’s new Lion King song

Michelle Williams gave a pretty vague response when asked about Beyonce’s new song for The Lion King at last night’s premiere.

The Destiny’s Child singer was among the stars who attended the Disney reboot’s premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, and was joined by her former bandmate Kelly Rowland to support their bestie Beyonce, who plays Nala in the live-action movie.

As the red carpet festivities unfolded, Beyonce, 38, released a brand new song called Spirit which will feature on the Lion King soundtrack, titled The Lion King: The Gift.

Of course, the Beyhive are absolutely loving the atmospheric ballad but does Michelle, 38, love it or loathe it?

No doubt she probably loves it but her answer when asked about the song was a little confusing to say the least.

An Entertainment Tonight reporter asked what she ‘thinks about the new music [Beyonce] has done’ for The Lion King, but rather than vocally heap praise on the song, Michelle proceeded to strike a series of model-esque poses.

Realising he wasn’t getting an answer, the reporter said: ‘So that’s a no comment,’ which sent Michelle into hysterics.

Way to leave us hanging, hun.

Michelle is fully supportive of Beyonce’s coveted role as Nala though and had earlier told ET: ‘I thought it’s absolutely brilliant, no one else could do it. When I think about her eye colour, her skin, her hair, she’s perfect for it.’

The Say Yes singer added of Beyonce’s impact as Nala: ‘Just excitement and how now is the time [for] different voices, different experiences and what she is going to bring to it.

‘And because of her two little girls, what she’s passing on for her family, I think, is really awesome.

‘I think she’s just excited to be in it, probably as she was when she first saw the movie. And to have a full circle moment to be in something that you just salivated over when you were younger, is just awesome.’

The Lion King hits cinemas on 19 July.
