Michelle Bridges says 'no one will know' what caused her split with Steve Willis

Former Biggest Loser trainer Michelle Bridges is determined the public will never learn the full story of her break-up with Steve ‘Commando’ Willis.

The couple parted ways in late December, but Michelle, 49, didn’t announce their split until weeks later after she was arrested for mid-range drink driving with her four-year-old son, Axel, in the car.

‘No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors and no one will, nor should they,’ she told Stellar magazine on Sunday in her first interview since pleading guilty to the drink driving charge last month.

Michelle added: ‘We’re two people who are going through a relationship break-up that sets about its own set of challenges for us, individually and as a duo going through a separation. I’m now trying to navigate a new life for myself going forward.’

The celebrity trainer and her former Army sergeant ex, 43, are believed to have split on New Year’s Eve.

Steve reportedly ‘stormed out’ of the apartment they shared in Sydney’s Potts Point and moved into a friend’s home. (Michelle has since sold the apartment for more than $6million.)

The reason for their break-up hasn’t been revealed.

It was not public knowledge the pair had split when Michelle was charged with drink driving on Sunday, January 26.

She was pulled over in her Range Rover at about 11:25am in Bellevue Hill, an affluent eastern suburb of Sydney, while taking Axel to the beach.

Michelle had spent the night before drinking with friends and returned a positive blood alcohol reading of 0.086.

While describing her actions as ‘inexcusable’, she revealed in the wake of her arrest that she had been dealing with ’emotional turmoil’ following her split from Steve.

‘I would like to express my deep regret for breaking the law, this was a terrible mistake and an error of judgment,’ she said at the time.

‘This behaviour is inexcusable, and I am absolutely devastated and embarrassed to find myself in this position. It has been a very difficult time for me the last few weeks dealing with the break-up of my long-term relationship.’

On February 18, Michelle was fined $750 and had her licence disqualified for three months after pleading guilty to mid-range drink driving.

She had tried to avoid a conviction by hiring a high-profile defence barrister, but wasn’t granted any leniency by the judge.

Afterwards, a tearful Michelle said outside Waverley Court: ‘I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep remorse, shame and humiliation [over] this incident and extreme lack of judgment.

‘I would like to apologise to my family, friends and community for this gross error in judgment and the consequences of these actions will haunt me forever.

‘I ask for your forgiveness to my greater community and my family and I thank you for your support.’
