Michael Jackson’s biographer shares tragic reason singer got plastic surgery

Michael Jackson transformed himself with plastic surgery and drastic skin bleaching so he didn’t look like his father, his biographer has claimed.

From the mid-1980s, the Thriller hitmaker’s appearance started to alter thanks to repeated skin bleaching and facial restructuring procedures.

Several years earlier, Jacko was diagnosed with skin condition vitiligo and many speculate that was one of the key reasons behind the procedures.

But Michael Jackson’s biographer, J. Randy Taraborrelli, has since claimed another reason was to hide MJ’s similarities to his dad Joe Jackson.

“We had conversations about the plastic surgery,” he said in new BBC documentary The Real Michael Jackson, which aired yesterday.

“He told me really specifically that one of the reasons was because every time he looked in the mirror he saw his dad’s reflection coming back at him.”

In a famous 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Jackson revealed that Joe physically abused him and his siblings throughout his childhood.

The Jackson patriarch admitted he had hit Michael with a strap in 2010, in another interview with Oprah.

J. Randy admitted he regretted how he had responded to the King of Pop’s transformation.

“If I was, back then the person I am now I would have handled it differently,” he continued.

“I would have said something like: ‘You need to go sort this out, maybe you need psychiatric help. Maybe this has nothing to do with Joseph but how you feel within’.”

The journalist went on to say Jackson “didn’t feel like he was good enough” and the surgery was a way to stand out.

“Everything that happened after that was to fashion himself into something that was more interesting or to create some publicity around something he thought was more fascinating,” he added.

The documentary also explored the allegations of child abuse directed at Jackson over the years.

In 1993, the singer was accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old Jordan Chandler, but charges were dropped the following year after Jacko settled with the Chandlers out of court.

10 years later, on December 18, 2003, Santa Barbara authorities charged Jackson with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of intoxicating a minor with alcohol.

Jackson denied the allegations, pleaded not guilty and was acquitted on all counts on June 13, 2005.

The alleged sexual abuse was then thrust into the limelight in 2019 with the release of Leaving Neverland.

In it, James Safechuck and Wade Robson accused Jackson of abusing them as children.

Jackson’s estate released a statement on behalf of his family addressing the claims after the film was screened at Sundance.

“The creators of this film were not interested in the truth,” it read.

“They never interviewed a single solitary soul who knew Michael except the two perjurers and their families. That is not journalism, and it’s not fair, yet the media are perpetuating these stories.

“But the truth is on our side. Go do your research about these opportunists. The facts don’t lie, people do. Michael Jackson was and always will be 100% innocent of these false allegations.”
