Michael Jackson: Fans give VERDICT on new BBC documentary on King of Pop

Last year, the Leaving Neverland documentary saw Wade Robson and James Safechuck allege that they were sexually abused as children by Michael Jackson. And just as with the court cases when he was alive, the King of Pop’s fans were divided. Some were sceptical, while others rallied around him.

Last night the BBC aired new documentary The Real Michael Jackson.

The one-off film is by Jacques Peretti, and marks his forth on the music icon.

But, of course, this is the first since Leaving Neverland was aired.

And in The Real Michael Jackson, the investigative journalist argues that Jackson used his “Wacko Jacko” image to cover his dark truth.

However, celebrity biographer and friend of Jackson J Rany Taraborrelli, who is interviewed in the documentary, is adamant that the late star was innocent of the allegations against him.

But what about the King of Pop’s fans?

Well, they were just as divided by The Real Michael Jackson as they were by Leaving Neverland.

One fan wrote on social media: “Don’t waste your time with that bullsh*t documentary on BBC2 tonight about MJ.”

And one fan typed: “#TheRealMichaelJackson is the biggest load of bias I’ve seen in a long time.

“Let the man rest in peace. He was found not guilty so it’s completely disrespectful to continue to call him a paedophile.”

However, not everyone defended Jackson, with some agreeing with the documentary.

One critic wrote on Twitter: “I find it hard to believe that there are people out there who still defend the multi-millionaire child abuser Michael Jackson. #TheRealMichaelJackson.”

Another wrote: “I see #TheRealMichaelJackson is trending. Whether he actually put a finger on those boys or not, the very fact he invited them there, was alone with them in such ways etc is, in and of itself, abusive.

“If it would be inappropriate for your bin man, it’s inappropriate for everyone.”

And one exclaimed: “It is insane the amount of people on Twitter who defend Michael Jackson!”

The Real Michael Jackson is streaming on BBC iPlayer now.
