Michael Douglas lends his OWN voice to a video promoting his Spanish villa

Michael Douglas has provided a voice-over for an exquisite new marketing video to promote his luxurious cliff-side villa located in the Balearic Islands of Spain

After initially putting the sprawling 250 acres estate on the market for a staggering $60million in 2014, the American actor, 74, has now personally described the splendours of the home – which has a new listing price of $32.38 million to help draw in interest.

In the two minute video, the Basic Instinct star reveals he ‘fell under the spell of the S’Estaca in 1989’ when he purchased it with his then-wife Diandra Luker for $3.5 million, but his ‘life has now taken a different course’ – prompting him to give another push in selling the estate – which is home to two opulent cottages and five apartments.

Ensuring to give a well-rounded description, Michael, who has been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000, informs potential buyers of the history of the home, revealing that Austrian archduke Ludwig Salvator purchased the house in the 1860s.

Salvator went on to completely renovate the dwelling of the house, added a sweeping stone staircase under the villa, while also building a bathhouse for one of his rumoured mistresses – which happened to be his cousin Sisi – the empress of Austria.

After buying the property nearly three decades ago, Michael admitted he wanted to ‘put his own mark on the place’ and ‘completely modernised and redecorated the old buildings that were built by the archduke.’

His pleasant and soothing narration quickly turned to the current selling points of the residence, which boasts an ‘uninterrupted view’ of the Balearic coastline

A buyers dream, Michael explained that the two cottages and five apartments – which houses up to twenty people – contains ten bedrooms and eleven bathrooms.

Drenched in the Spanish sunshine, and surrounded by lush green terrain and mountains, there is plenty of entertainment to keep one busy – including a home theatre, a library, a wine cellar and a vineyard.

Proving that the house has been well utilised by Michael, he has hosted partied for the likes of Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Pfeiffer.

In a previous interview, Michael revealed that his European property was his ‘spiritual home’, despite having other properties dotted around the world, including an apartment in Manhattan, summer home in Bedford, New York, and a ranch in Bermuda.

Things have now moved on for the Fatal Attraction star as he explained in the video: ‘Now it’s time for me to let someone else enjoy he privilege and adventure of owning S’Estaca.’

This appears to be the latest attempt in selling the property after it was reported by DailyMailTV in October of last year that Michael and Catherine pulled their Spanish vacation villa off the market after years of being ‘left to rot,’

In 2014, the estate was put on the market by Sotheby’s for a colossal $60 million. They were forced to drop the price in 2017 to $45 million, and then again to $40 million in January 2018, before the luxury realtors took it completely off the market in October.

The property supposedly holds only bad memories for Zeta-Jones because it’s co-owned by Luker, 62, in a bizarre and awkward timeshare pact.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones have it from January to June, Luker from July to December, and they even change the fixtures, fittings and furniture.

The Welsh beauty has almost never been seen at the house since they tied the knot in 2000.

When a local Spanish newspaper interviewed Luker regarding rumours that she was selling her half to Catherine, she retorted: ‘It’s not true. Sometimes people say things without the slightest proof. Why would someone who doesn’t speak Spanish or the local Majorcan language or knows nothing about this culture want a house here? She doesn’t even come here much.’

Michael and Catherine are proud parents to Dylan, 18, and Carys, 15. The pair are set to celebrate their 19-year wedding anniversary in November.

The Game actor recently discussed his marriage to Catherine after winning Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for his work in The Kominsky Method at the Golden Globe Awards.

He explained: ‘I think the fact that we’re in the same industry really helps us to understand what is going on.

‘It was great for her to be here tonight and to share one of those nice things where your partner totally understands what’s going on,’ the Fatal Attraction star continued.
