MeyGen tidal power group finance chief steps down

The finance chief of Edinburgh-based tidal power group Simec Atlantis has stood down.

The firm, which operates the MeyGen tidal energy project in the Pentland Firth, said Andrew Dagley will leave his post as chief finance officer today although will remain as an executive director on the board.

He will also lead the financing of the group’s Uskmouth waste to energy conversion project.

Stephen Hutt, who joined Atlantis as part of the acquisition of Green Highland Renewables in 2019, will be appointed in his place from 1 March but has not joined the board. He will be based at the company’s head office in Edinburgh.

Hutt’s previous roles have also included chief executive at the Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland. He holds an honours degree in Business Studies and Accounting from Edinburgh University.

Tim Cornelius, CEO of Atlantis, said Dagley had played a key role in transforming the company from a marine energy specialist into a leading developer of renewable and sustainable energy projects driven by acquisitions in the hydro and waste to energy sectors.

Cornelius said: “I am delighted that Stephen has agreed to accept the CFO position and I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to grow the Atlantis group. Stephen has quickly become an integral and highly valued part of the team. His experience and pedigree in the delivery, financing and operation of renewable energy projects in the UK will be very valuable as we seek to finance, construct and commission our flagship projects, as well as continue to grow our hydro, marine and end of waste project portfolio.”
