In a conversation with PCGamer, Newell said in a statement, “Most of the people who are talking about metaverse have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about,” calling them “a bunch of get rich quick schemes.”

He added, stating that whatever people are claiming to experience in a metaverse is something gamers have already done while playing MMOs. Microsoft Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella had somewhat similar opinions surrounding the metaverse, which he had revealed a few weeks ago.
