Mesut Ozil has sent a message to Arsenal fans after the Gunners were held to an ‘annoying’ 2-2 draw by Watford on Sunday at Vicarage Road.

Ozil started for the Gunners for the first time this season and played a part in their second goal as they took a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Unai Emery’s side looked comfortable and in control at half time, but things went horribly wrong for them in the second half as defensive calamities allowed the Hornets back into the game.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos gave the ball away in his own penalty box to let Tom Cleverley pull one back before David Luiz brought down Roberto Pereyra in the box, with the Argentinian equalising from the spot.

Watford could easily have taken all three points with their impressive second half display, with Abdoulaye Doucoure spurning a great chance at the death, but Ozil is bemoaning his team’s failure to win.

The German tweeted: ‘Two points dropped. Annoying second half, in the end we have to settle for a disappointing draw. Let’s try to bounce back soon. Thanks for your support at Vicarage road ❤ #M1Ö’

Emery’s side are continuing their worrying run of self destruction that has seen them concede an enormous amount of goals through their own mistakes.

Arsenal players have made 14 errors that lead to Premier League goals since the start of last season, which is more than any other side.

No team has conceded more penalties in that time either, with the Gunners allowing 10 goals against them from the spot.

The draw means Arsenal are now three games without a win after defeat away to Liverpool and a draw with Tottenham in the north London derby.

They now sit seventh in the table and already seven points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League who have won all five of their league games so far this season.
