Few footballers are subjected to as much criticism online as Mesut Ozil and the Arsenal playmaker appeared to decide enough is enough today.
The German is often mocked for his apparent tendency to ‘go missing’ during matches and a Spurs fans suggested as much in a *spectacularly witty* way by claiming Ozil was in Tottenham’s team photo for Sunday’s clash against Juventus.

Ozil, who was not tagged in the tweet published four days ago, did not take kindly to the suggestion.

It’s not particularly clear who ‘won’ in the exchange given Ozil has potentially searched his own name and decided to argue with an unknown fan online, while the Spurs supporter’s jibe was average at best.
But nevertheless it’s enjoyable to see Ozil stoking the fire ahead of the first north London derby of the season on September 1st.
Arsenal fans will be hoping Ozil continues with this new-found confidence.
The German’s had an impressive pre-season so far despite speculation towards the end of last season that he was surplus to requirements at the Emirates.
