Mel C has joked the Spice Girls would have turned down any offer to sing with Adele, but only out of fears of being upstaged.

She’s got a point, right? Those vocals are just something else.

Spice Girl super fan Adele had been petitioning to be the iconic girlband’s fifth band member, after Victoria Beckham decided to pull out of the group’s reunion tour, earlier this year.

VB said she wanted to focus on her fashion empire instead and hoping to get the call up, Adele had put herself out there – instead having to settle with a seat in the crowd and then later getting drunk with Mel, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) instead.

Err, that’s one invite we would have loved to have had.

Addressing Adele’s desire to join them on stage in a new interview, Mel joked to The Sun: ‘I heard a rumour that she did want to come up and do 2 Become 1. But we said no because, who wants to sing with Adele?’

Back in July, Adele documented her night as the Spice Girls stormed the stage at Wembley Stadium and said she fell back in love with her 10-year-old-self while declaring her love for the band.

Adele told fans: ‘Oiii last time I saw the Spice Girls at Wembley was 21 years ago! Tonight with my nearest and dearest i cried, laughed, screamed, danced, reminisced and fell back in love with my 10 year old self.

‘It’s no secret how much I love them, how much they inspired me to run for my life and never look back. I finally got to meet Ginger, I got drunk with the girls and quite frankly I can’t believe how far I’ve come.

‘Thank you for the madness I get to live, I couldn’t have got here without you 5 BRITISH legends! I love you!’

Meanwhile, Mel B has addressed rumours the Spice Girls could be getting their own Las Vegas residency after selling out their comeback tour.

She said that plans are ‘a little bit up in the air’ right now, but it’s something she is definitely pushing for.

Mel claimed: ‘I can’t do any public announcements about any of that until everything’s signed off, so right now it’s just a little bit up in the air.

‘But I’m always the one that’s pushing everything to go back on course, so we’ll see.
