Mel B has revealed her difficulty in dating with mental health issues.

The Spice Girl is hosting Badoo’s Truth Flirts podcast, speaking to a range of stars and experts on the highs and lows of dating.

This week the 44-year-old shared her conundrum and thoughts on taking on the anxieties of the dating world while suffering from ADD, ADHD and anxiety herself.

Episode three, titled Dating is Mental, saw Mel B talk openly with Mental Health Ambassador Roxie Nafousi and LGBT and lifestyle YouTuber, Calum McSwiggan about her own struggles, as well as doing Reiki before she goes out on stage with the Spice Girls and dating.

Yes, there is a lot to unpack.

Speaking candidly, Mel admitted she needs to reveal her mental health struggles early on in a relationship, or risk its peril.

‘It has to be addressed earlier than not,’ she said in the latest episode, released today.

‘I have ADD, ADHD, Dyspraxia, there’s a reason why my brain functions differently. If I was dating, that would be one of the conversations I’d have upfront.’

Mel, who is apparently dating her hairdresser, continued: ‘I’m very open and I’m very vulnerable, and that’s got me into certain situations in relationships where somebody either takes advantage of that or they are abusive, emotionally, so it can open the floodgates in a negative way for you to be put in those kinds of horrible situations.’

The episode launches following a study of 5,709 Badoo users that found that one in three experienced anxieties during their online dating journey.

We’re sure many of us can relate.

Mel has been incredibly candid about her past relationships, most recently her 10-year marriage to Stephen Belafonte.

The eight-part series, which Mel hosts, tackles the rollercoaster that is modern dating and was recently launched by dating app Badoo, which aims to break down taboos and invite people to be ‘unapologetically themselves’ when looking for a connection.
