Mel B has spoken on talking to her ‘terrified’ older daughter Phoenix about the sex talk.

It has to happen at some point, and for Mel’s daughter, it came when she was 16-years-old.

The Spice Girls singer opened up on being ‘very to the point’ during that talk on The Truth Flirts podcast, revealing that she was surprised to think that most of her daughter’s friends had not yet had that conversation with their mothers at that age.

‘When Phoenix was about 16, I was like, we need to sit down and have a word about safe sex and contraception, and she was like what?’ she said.

‘And I think all her other friends had never even had that conversation with their mothers.

‘I’m so glad, as cringey as it was, I was very to the point. I told her about boys’ intentions, or the main intentions of boys at that age.

‘We spoke about contraception thoroughly, about condoms, what happens when you don’t use a condom, which I think terrified her to her core.’

Mel had teamed up with Badoo

Mel later revealed that dating ‘high-end celebs’ just ‘wasn’t for her’ after a while, as she tends to stick to ‘friends of friends’.

‘I’ve always dated friends of friends so I’ve always already known the group, so if I was to go outside and date a stranger I’d be really nervous, that would make me really panicky,’ she continued.

‘I’ve dated like, really high-end celebs and they were lovely people but it just wasn’t for me in the end.’

The 44-year-old also claimed that Phoenix wants her to date a basketball player, purely because she wants front row tickets for a Los Angeles Lakers match.

‘Not because of the tallness or the fact that what they do is an amazing sport, it’s because she wants front row tickets at the Lakers match,’ she continued.

‘So she really does not care. So for that reason alone, I’m like no, I’m not going to date a basketball player.’

The Truth Flirts is launched with dating app Badoo – the place to date honestly. Listen now via iTunes and other podcast providers.
