Meghan Trainor has given fans an update on how her dad is doing after he was the victim of an alleged hit and run.

News broke of the incident concerning Gary Trainor yesterday and today, All About That Bass singer Meghan seemingly confirmed the collision, while paying tribute to her father’s strength.

‘I’m with my dad now,’ the star, 26, said on Instagram today, sharing images of her with her beloved dad.

She added: ‘Thank you for all your sweet messages.

‘It was all very scary but he is the strongest man I know.’

According to reports, Gary, 71, was taken to an LA hospital after being struck by a car on Friday night. The incident is believed to have taken place on a busy street in the San Fernando Valley.

The identity of the driver is currently unknown, although police are said to be investigating.

The news comes just weeks after Gary, who was a professional performer before he retired, appeared on Meghan’s show The Voice to perform alongside Sex Bomb singer Tom Jones.

Meghan is a coach on the show alongside will.i.am, Olly Murs and Tom Jones.

Olly told Meghan at the time: ‘Your dad needs to come out and play then.’

To this, Meghan responded: ‘Dad, Dad, Dadddd…’

Then, her father performed Shake Rattle and Roll on the piano while Tom sang, in the cute TV moment.

Meghan’s hits include No, Dear Future Husband and Lips Are Movin’.

She recently released her third album, Treat Myself.
