Meghan Markle's ring has such a special meaning behind it

As an activist who isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in, Meghan Markle inspires us every single day.

As well as using her royal status to speak out about causes she believes in, Meghan is now using her wardrobe to do the same.

Stepping out at Windsor Castle with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) and One Young World, Meghan donned two brand new gold rings by Montréal-based company, Vargas Goteo – a label that helps endangered animals.

Established in 2010 by designer Alex Prijic Smith, Vargas Goteo was one of the first brands to highlight the conservation of poached, illegally traded and irresponsibly sourced wildlife.

According to the brand’s website: “Vargas Goteo combines eye-catching, thought-provoking design with the mission of bringing ethical and social responsibility to fine jewelry. Creating statement pieces that start a conversation about conservation.”

Each collection raises awareness and contributes directly to carefully selected ocean and wildlife organisation campaigns. These include anti-shark finning, manta ray conservation, coral reef restoration, anti-ivory poaching and anti-rhino poaching organisations.

Meghan plumped for the Manta Kiss Stack Ring, which support manta ray conservation worldwide. What a woman.

“Elegant clean lines, and smooth finishes evoke the mesmerizing silhouettes of graceful rays, our ocean’s gentle giants,” reads the product’s description.

Speaking to People Magazine, Alex Prijic Smith said it was an honour to see Meghan wearing his designs – and apparently she sourced them herself. “To see my work out there and on such a remarkable woman really is a dream come true.”

Now that’s what we call fashion with a conscience.
