Meghan Markle and Harry's Oprah interview extended as 'no subject is off-limits'

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s interview with television host Oprah Winfrey is set to air in just a matter of days but it’s believed that it will now be extended.

On Monday, CBS dropped two teaser trailers for arguably the most dramatic royal interview since Diana, Princess of Wales’, infamous Panorama interview with Martin Bashir.

During the clip, Harry, 35, revealed that he feared “history would repeat itself” – a subtle hint at Diana’s turbulent relationship with The Royal Family.

Oprah, 67, is also heard telling viewers that ‘no subject is off-limits’ as the couple sit down for an unprecedented interview, away from the careful eyes of palace officials.

CBS has now dubbed it a “primetime special” and it has been taken from being just 90 minutes long to two hours. It will hit American televisions on Sunday, March 7, around 1am GMT.

The chat show icon goes on to ask Meghan, 39, whether she was “silent or silenced” – however, in the promotional clip, we do not hear Meghan’s response to the question.

While holding his pregnant wife’s hand, Prince Harry joins the interview and says: “You know for me, I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you, with my wife by my side.

“Because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her [Diana, Princess of Wales], going through this process by herself. All those years ago.

“Because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other.”

Oprah later revealed that some of the subjects spoken about during filming were “pretty shocking” and seemed “almost unsurvivable”

The chat which is believed to touch upon parenthood, marriage and their lives as members of the Mountbatten-Windsor family was filmed last week but it’s said that The Queen was unaware until the special was announced.

Members of The Royal Family rarely give interviews and each one is run by the monarch ahead of filming.

The interview came to light several days before Buckingham Palace announced that Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be renouncing their duties as senior working members of The Royal Family and would be stripped of their honorary military titles.
