McGill acquires Fife-based central heating specialist

Scottish building services and construction firm McGill has acquired Fife-based gas and central heating specialist Kingdom Gas Services.

The latest deal follows the purchase of facilities management company The McDougall Group last month.

Kingdom Gas Services brings the scope and scale of delivery across the East Coast of Scotland, as McGill prepares to launch a dedicated gas division.

Managed by founder Billy McCord, the business has grown over the past 23 years from a start-up based in Cupar, to a multi-million-pound turnover business with operations covering Aberdeenshire, Angus, Dundee and Fife.

It specialises in delivering domestic and commercial oil and gas boiler maintenance, repair and installation services to housing associations and councils.

McCord will join McGill as gas services director and will lead the new gas division, created to consolidate the delivery of all gas and heating contracts across the McGill group.

McGill managing director Errol Lawrie commented: “I am delighted to welcome Billy and his Kingdom Gas team into the McGill family – he has built a solid and reputable company and his expertise will be put to good use as he drives forward the expansion of our newly created gas division.

McCord added: “For me, having grown my business over the past 23 years, I wanted comfort that the future of the business, and of my employees, was secure.

“Joining McGill is both a challenge and a huge opportunity for my people and Kingdom Gas.”
