McDonald’s is testing new chip boxes for deliveries – and it keeps them piping hot

MCDONALD’S is trialling new boxes help to keep chips piping hot.

The new packaging replaces the traditional open-top cone shapes with boxes that can actually close.

It means that your fries won’t spill everywhere while they’re being driven to you by the courier – and they keep your food warm.

But it will only be used when you order a McDelivery.

Fries are notorious for not travelling well – often arriving at the other end mushy and cold.

The new boxes were spotted by Paisley Billings, who has appeared on E4’s Tattoo Fixers and Celebs Go Dating.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said:  “We have recently been trialling a new box for fries ordered through McDelivery, and currently reviewing the results.

“We are always looking at how we can improve our packaging across all products, and this trial is part of that ongoing process.

The fast food chain didn’t tell us how many branches are trialling the boxes or for how long, but if they do we’ll update this story.

McDonald’s has about 1,300 restaurants in the UK. You can find your nearest branch using its online tool.

Previously an ex-McDonald’s worker revealed how to get secret menu options and discounts.
