McDonald's fans share how to make McMuffins and Big Macs at home during lockdown

When you’re really in the mood for it, there’s nothing more satisfying then nipping to your local Maccas for a sausage and egg McMuffin first thing in the morning, or a Big Mac mid-afternoon.

But with the UK currently on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, McDondald’s restaurants and drive thrus have been forced to close for the safety of customers and staff.

And with it not being clear when they will open their doors once again, people are really starting to miss their fast food favourites.

In fact, they’re missing them so much that they’ve decided to have a go at recreating items from the menu at home.

People are really missing McDonald’s right now

One woman has taken to TikTok to share her DIY sausage and egg McMuffin recipe.

To make her breakfast treat, she uses products from Morrisons, including all butter English muffins, cheese slices, free range eggs and breakfast patties.

The creative cook, known on the site as @TikTorkers, begins by cooking her breakfast patties in a frying pan on the hob, turning them every so often to get both sides nicely browned.

She then slices the muffins in half and puts them under the grill to toast.

The next step is to fry the eggs, which she does in a frying pan ring.

Once everything is ready, she butters the muffin halves, places a cheese slice on top, before loading with two meat patties and an egg.

She captioned the video saying: “DIY McDonalds breakfast. Best u can get in the U.K. atm.”

Her post quickly went viral, with over 34,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

But for those missing Big Macs during this time, you could easily make one for yourself at home.

You’ll need burgers, burger buns, lettuce, pickles, onion and cheese slices.

And of course the best thing about a Big Mac is that special sauce, so you’ll want to try making that as well.

Back in 2003, Todd Wilbur, who has been cloning famous foods for nearly 30 years, shared his own version of the sauce recipe in his cookbook Even More Top Secret Recipes.

You’ll need just seven things to make it and it only takes a few minutes.
