Mauricio Pochettino reveals only way Tottenham can end away day woes after Leicester loss

Mauricio Pochettino has warned his Tottenham players that they must be more consistent if they are going to win away fixtures.

Spurs lost 2-1 at Leicester on Saturday as goals from Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison cancelled out Harry Kane’s strike.

Kane’s improvised finish as he fell had put the away side in front before the break but they failed to capitalise and went home without a point.

“For different reasons, for different circumstances that are difficult to explain now,” Pochettino said when asked why his side lost.

“Every single game, if you ask me today why we didn’t win, after dominating the game for 80 minutes and then the circumstances change and we concede.

“We need to be more consistent, show better performances away from home.

“That is the only way.

“It is a point to analyse, but we are here to try and find solutions for the future.”

Despite the eventual defeat, that included a controversial VAR decision which benefited Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester, the Argentina refused to criticise his team.

“The performance I think was good,” he added.

“After Wednesday, a long flight, not too much time to recover I think the performances was fantastic.

“I think we were the best team on the pitch for 83 minutes, of course but now that changed completely in the last seven or 10 minutes the feeling.

“The feeling before was that we dominated and with a different result we are talking in a different way, but we need to be fair in the way we are going to assess this.

“The team behaved very well with a great attitude and played in some moments very good football.

I am happy with the performance, disappointed with the result.

“In this type of period where everything is against us, that is the moment to be tough and work hard and be positive.”
