Mauricio Pochettino puts Man Utd chief Ed Woodward on alert with Premier League admission

Manchester United have been linked with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino for a number of months, and the Red Devils’ executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has fresh reason to be optimistic about a potential deal. The Argentine has admitted that he would love a return to Premier League management, and is ready for the next challenge.

Pochettino was sacked by Spurs in November, after five years in charge at the north London club.

It came after Tottenham made a disappointing start to the season, and were 14th in the league table when Pochettino was axed.

He was immediately linked with the United job, with Solskjaer failing to impress at Old Trafford, so far.

Now, the former Southampton manager has revealed that he’s ready to get back into football, after a three-month spell on the sidelines.

“To be honest, I would love to work in the Premier League,” Pochettino told Sky Sports’ Natalie Pinkham, in the ‘In The Pink’ podcast.

“It’s going to be difficult, I know, and for now it’s a moment to wait and we’ll see what happens.

“It’s a moment of recovery, to think about yourself a little bit, and to be ready because in football always something can happen and you need to be ready.

“I’m ready and waiting for a new challenge. I have the belief and confidence that the next challenge will be fantastic.”
