A third said: “Love Island Winter I knew it. Good choice though.”

It comes after current host Caroline, 40, was charged with assault following an alleged bust-up with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

Police were called to Caroline’s house in North London, where she lives with model boyfriend Lewis Burton after 5am on Thursday.

Caroline has presented Love Island since it made it’s TV return in 2015

Cops have confirmed they had attended, with sources saying Lewis, 27, called 999 himself after a row erupted between the couple.

The drama forced ITV executives into crisis talks yesterday, as Caroline was due to begin filming Winter Love Island in South Africa next month.

It has remained unclear whether the presenter will be in a position to host the newest series of the ITV2 dating show so bosses have been discussing contingency plans.

Lewis has since taken to Instagram story today to show support to Caroline by sharing a loved-up picot of the pair alongside a heart emoji.

Will Maura ditch her Dancing On Ice place for a stint as Love Island presenter?

Laura Whitmore, 34, is among those being considered as a stand-in but fans are convinced Irish beauty Maura will be named the new host.

ITV has refused to comment now whether Caroline will return to front the new series of Winter Love Island.

A source told The Sun: “This is an absolute nightmare so close to the start of the series.

“Nobody knows exactly what has gone on, or how the court process will pan out.

“But it’s obviously too much of a risk not to have a back-up plan in place so those conversations have started straight away.

“ITV were told the news on Thursday and have been meeting about it ever since — it’s a real crisis.”

The bookies say Stormzy’s ex Maya Mama is most likely to replace Caroline, with Maura in second place 3/1.

Maura is currently scheduled to appear on the new series Dancing On Ice in January, but will she be swapping the ice for the Love Island villa?
