Little Britain’s Matt Lucas shared a heartbreaking tribute to his beloved dog Hob this week, after the pooch died.

‘Hob could bark for England. Now the house is silent.

‘Hob was one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had. Thank you Hobby. I love you xxx.’

It didn’t take long for his 80,000 followers to chime in, as one said their sorrow for his loss among his celebrity friends who also commented.

Actress Pearl Mackie wrote: ‘Oh no!! So sorry to hear that Matt! Ahhh sending much love to you mate and love to hob in doggie heaven.’

Celebrity Big Brother’s Courtney Act also replied, as she wrote: ‘So sorry to hear that! Sending much love.’

Fellow comedian Sarah Millican sent her love: ‘Oh so sorry to hear this, Matt. Lots of love to you. X.’

The loss of Hob comes after Matt recently paid tribute to his ex-husband, 10 years after he died by suicide.

Taking to Instagram, Matt posted a picture of Kevin on a train platform with a beaming smile on his face and captioned the snap with a tribute revealing how Kevin was ‘so funny and silly and clever and kind and handsome and his smile made my heart soar’.

Matt and Kevin wed in 2006 in a civil ceremony attended by cluding Barbara Windsor, Neil Tennant, Elton John, and Courtney Love but they had it dissolved in 2008.

A year later Kevin died, and Matt shared that he ‘loved him more than anyone I’ve ever met’.

‘This is Kevin John McGee, who died ten years ago today,’ he wrote.

‘I loved him more than anyone I’ve ever met, and still do. He was so funny and silly and clever and kind and handsome and his smile made my heart soar. We were together for nearly six years and he made me the happiest man on the planet.’
