Matt Baker speaks out on ‘drama’ with wife amid career move away from The One Show

Matt Baker, 42, took to Instagram to share a funny video of his wife Nicola Mooney struggling to detangle her hair when she collided with a drone last night. The presenter, who is currently making a move away from his role on The One Show to pantomime, was in the London Palladium for one of his performances at the time, but witnessed Nicola’s unfortunate mishap on a FaceTime call.

Matt couldn’t help but record his other half as she giggled while struggling to cope with the “drone drama”.

In the soundless clip, which the TV personality posted today in view of his 57,000 followers, Nicola could be seen shaking her head to try to remove the flashing drone from a strand of her brunette hair.

Luckily, the couple’s two children were on hand to help out and tried to assist their mum in detaching the toy.

In spite of the awkward incident, Nicola ended the call by smiling sweetly at her husband and waving him goodbye.

The small-screen star has embarked on a venture into acting and is starring in Goldilocks and the Three Bears as Joey, an acrobatic tightrope walker.

Matt, who has fronted the BBC show for nine years, recently updated fans on his new role by showing them the tightrope he had been practising on.

He joked: “I’m 42 in a few weeks time and I’m too old to be spending this much time upside down.”

Matt added: “Its a brilliant show, we open this afternoon at 2.30pm, the matinee.”

The presenter went on to thank fans for their support after he revealed he would be stepping down from The One Show.

He continued: “But, I just wanted to put this little post up to say thank you for all the support you have shown me over the past few days since I announced I was leaving The One Show in March.

“I am totally overwhelmed and blown away by the reaction so thank you so much, and I’ll be back on the sofa in January.”

The One Show continues on Monday at 7pm on BBC One.
