Mason Mount’s father has hit back at reports which claim that his son is unhappy following Chelsea’s decision to sign Kai Havertz this summer.
Frank Lampard’s side finally completed their €100 million (£89m) deal to sign the Germany international from Bayer Leverkusen this week.
Havertz’s transfer means that there will be even more competition for a place in Chelsea’s midfield and attack this season following the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech earlier this summer.
And according to Bild, Mount is unhappy with Havertz’s signing and is concerned he will now lose his place in the side to Chelsea’s club-record signing.
However, Mount’s father, Tony, has strongly denied those claims as he replied to the report on Twitter with several laughing face emojis and the word ‘bulls***’.
Mount made 53 appearances for Lampard’s side last season, scoring eight goals and registering six assists.
Speaking earlier this year, Mount also made it clear that he had no qualms with Chelsea strengthening their squad in the summer transfer window.
‘For me, it’s about having that same attitude I have had since I was six and making sure I never lose it.
‘You just have to fight. You know Chelsea can always buy £60 million or £70m or £80m players that are world-class. They want to come here and take my place.
‘Just because I am an academy boy and young, that doesn’t mean anything. But the mentality I have means I won’t be pushed over easily.
‘I will fight for my position and keep working hard.
‘At a club as big as Chelsea you have to have that mentality. It always stuck with me. It’s why I am here in the first place.’
